evo nesto o Protectorovom industrial darkwave projektu:
''Ice Ages is founded in 1994 by Richard Lederer, known for dark wave band "Die Verbannten Kinder Evas" and black metal band "Summoning". In 1997, the first "Ice Ages" CD, entitled "Strike the Ground", was released. In contrast to the orchestral and melancholic atmosphere of "Die Verbannten Kinder Evas" or the fantasy world of "Summoning", this project takes a more aggressive and darker turn.
The second CD to be released on "Napalm Records" in late 2000, "This Killing Emptiness", follows the style of the debut. However, it boasts of a superior sound quality and a more mature writing style that blends ominously with the ever-present deep and distorted voice (and sometimes raw and clearer voice) of Richard Lederer.
In opposite to other releases of the electro scene, the rhythmical structure is more complicated and the tunes are more polyphonic. The aim of "Ice Ages" is to follow its own typical dark, melodic and sluggish way, and not to follow any modern trends.
After some serious problems with his other projects his whole musical productivity got a huge undesired rest. Anyway this time was not lost, during that time Richard started to deal very intensely with new software synthesizers (mainly with "Reaktor 5") to get more sound possibilities and a wider flexibility of sound creation for "Ice Ages". Filled with all those experiences he started to create the new songs in a short time and finally after a delay of 7 years the new album "Buried Silence" is almost completed. The lyrics are again written by Grom, but this time they are especially written for the music, having not existed before and adapted to the music as on the last album.
The new songs follow the style of "This Killing Emptiness"; they are again very dark, slow, and melodic, with a heavy distorted drum-sound, but this time maybe using rougher melodic sounds in most songs and also even increasing in the complexity of the rhythms''
Protector wrote an email to youtube in order to tell them to remove certain videos showing nazi-propaganda and using Summoning music for it. PROTECTOR: "This finally brought me to the decision to recapitulate all the statements i know that show clearly that the music of summoning as well as any kind rock or metal music are in contradiction to such ideologies.
So for now and for the future. any person can use Summoning music for videos as long as they are not used for political propaganda and specially not for nazi-propaganda.

Summoning je austrijski black metal band, često opisivan kao Tolkien metal (zbog tekstova u kojima se opisuje svijet Tolkiena).
Summoning su 1993. godine osnovali Silenius (Michael Gregor), Protector (Richard Lederer) i Trifixion (Alexander Trondl). Prije nego je osnovao Summoning, Protector je svirao bubnjeve u "old fashioned" trash/death metal bendu Marlignom, i započeo učiti sviranje bubnjeva u glazbenoj školi. Silenius je bio u doom metal bendu Shadow Vale (kad je imao 16 godina), te je pohađao glazbenu školu svirajući klavir. Prije Summoninga, Silenius je radio glazbu sa Pazuzu (Ray Wells) u bendu Cromm. Trifixion je svirao u bendu Pervertum.
Summoning je snimio dva dema, (Upon the Viking's Stallion and Anno Mortiri Domini), split s austrijskim bendom Pazuzu (The Urilia Text), i promo za Lugburz od pet pjesama. Gotovo sve pjesme s dema nikad nisu objavljene, ili su smještene na CD-ima u potpuno drukčijim verzijama.
Demo su se dobro prodali u glazbenoj prodavaonici u Beču, zvanoj "Why Not". Nešto kasnije, Silenius je došao u kontakt sa T.T. (Thomas Tannenberger), što će kasnije rezultirati kreiranjem Abigora. Silenius je odradio svoj posao kao vokal za sva izdanja Abigora, (osim za demo) kao trajni član sve do 1999. Prvi Abigorov album je izdao tada mladi Napalm Records label, a Silenius je uspio ugovoriti debut za Summoningov Lugburz 1995. U to vrijeme članovi Summoninga bili su: Silenius - vokal, klavijature, bass; Protector - klavijature, gitara; Trifixion - bubnjevi (njegova zadnja suradnja sa bendom); Pazuzu im je posudio dodatne vokale te napisao neke tekstove. Lugburz je bio više tradicionalni black metal i puno različitiji od sljedećih izdanja benda koja će tek uslijediti.
Bend je nastavio kao duet, nakon odlaska Trifixiona, te je izdan Minas Morgul 1995. Ovo je bilo prvo izdanje u novom stilu, epic i atmospheric, koristeći gitare čisto kao pozadinski instrument i sintesajzer gotovo kao vodeći, koristeći prijašnje, ponovno snimljene ranije pjesme. Dol Guldur, iz 1996. nastavio je ovim stilom pod utjecajem Protectorovog darkwave projekta Ice Ages. Također, tekstovi su nadahnuti djelima J.R.R.Tolkiena. 1997. izdan je EP Nightshade Forests. Nakon toga, bend je prestao sa radom sljedeće 2 godine, te zaustavio i neke ostale projekte. 1999. Summoning se vraća izdajući Stronghold, koji se, iako je ostao dosljedan stilu Summoninga, više fokusirao na gitaru kako bi stvorio melodične linije umjesto klavijatura i sintesajzera, kako je bio slučaj u prijašnjim izdanjima.
2001. izdan je Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame. Ovo izdanje bilo je kombinacija starog i novog stila benda. Klavijature su bile više epic i polyphonic, dok su gitare poprimile sličnost sa kompleksnijim i rock-esque stilom gitara sa Strongholda. Ovog puta bend više koristi uzorke govorene riječi kako bi osigurao dramatičniji stil pjesama, i po prvi puta koristi pjevački zbor u pjesmi Farewell. Tekstovni koncept opet je temeljen na Tolkienovoj trilogiji, ali je po prvi puta kombiniran inspiracijom pisanja Michaela Moorcocka. 20003. izdan je EP Lost Tales, koji se sastojao od ostataka Dol Guldura.
2006. izdan je Oath Bound, koji se sastoji od sasvim novog materijala. Zbog problema u osobnom životu članova benda, te zbog nedostataka ideja, rezultirala je dugom pauzom između posljednja dva albuma. Ovaj album unio je značajke opuštenog arpeggio stila na gitari, koji je pridonio epic zvuk. Također, za kreiranje ovog albuma koristili su bolju opremu, te su okupili veći broj vokala u zboru. 2007. očekuje se izdanje mini CD-a s bar jednom pjesmom koja nije uspjela ući na Oath Bound zbog problema sa veličinom. Protector preferira cijeli CD, no sve ostaje na Sileniusovoj inspiraciji, jer je ipak on zadužen za stvaranje novih pjesama.
